About
Founded by community leader O’Tavais Harris, the Harris Family Foundation was created to close opportunity gaps for children in East Knoxville and beyond. We believe that exposure, mentorship, and real-world skill building can transform the trajectory of a young person’s life. Through tutoring, leadership workshops, family support initiatives, and partnerships with local businesses and civic leaders, we create pathways from early learning to high school graduation and beyond.
Our 10-year plan includes expanding programming into additional neighborhoods, launching scholarship funds, and developing a permanent community hub where families can access tutoring, technology, and wraparound services. By working together, we aim to cultivate a generation of confident, capable young leaders ready to contribute to their communities.

The Harris Family Foundation is a registered nonprofit dedicated to equipping children and families with practical tools for lifelong success. We envision a community where every child—regardless of zip code, background, or circumstance—has equitable access to the skills, support, and opportunities needed to graduate on time and step confidently into college, careers, or entrepreneurship. Our vision is to break cycles of disadvantage by surrounding youth and families with holistic resources that nurture their academic, social, and emotional growth.
